Are you a therapist or counselor?

No. I am not a licensed counselor or therapist. I am a licensed master social worker (LMSW) however, in order to provide counseling, I would need to be a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas.

If this isn’t therapy, what is it?

Using my personal and professional experience I will provide peer support services to help guide you as a fellow parent of a child with autism. Think of it as talking to a friend who understands what you’re going through. The difference is that I have 30 years of experience in navigating the unique challenges that come with supporting someone with autism.

Do I have to live in Austin or even Texas?

No. While the majority of the resources I know of are in the Austin area I will help you find resources in your area. Some programs like Social Security, Education Services and support, and ADA laws are federal and would apply across the country.

Are your services guaranteed?

Yes and No. While I can’t promise a quick fix or even that the strategies I’ve used will work for you I can promise I will continue to try and help you navigate your unique path. There are no cookie cutter solutions or one sized fits all plans. I do guarantee that I will provide a tailor made plan to help and support your family's needs.

Do you take insurance?

No. I am not providing medical services, so I am unable to bill your insurance.

Can I use my FSA or HAS?

No. I am not providing medical services, so I am unable to take FSA or HAS funds.

What methods of payment do you use?

Payments can be securely made through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account please contact me and we will work out an alternate payment option.

When are you available?

All sessions are by appointment only. I understand the struggles working parents face so I offer convenient night and weekend hours. If you do not see a time available that works for you please message me and we will find a solution.

What is the free discovery call?

During your free discovery call we will get basic information about your family and what help you are seeking. I will let you know how my services can address these concerns so you know if I am the right fit for you.

What happens during the first session?

During your first session we will spend time discussing your main goals and concerns. We will plan together a path forward that helps you find resources and support in your area.

What happens after the first session?

During our follow up sessions we will review the steps that have been taken and what the next steps are. We will discuss any new concerns and continue the path forward.

How often do we need to meet?

That is entirely up to you. My calendar is open and available as you need it. I do suggest at least monthly follow ups and offer discounted session packages that can be used any time during the calendar year they are purchased.

What if I want to meet in Person?

If you are in the Austin, TX area and would like to meet in person I am happy to do so. If you choose to book an in person session please specify during your booking where you would like to meet. Please note that in person visits require more time due to drive time and may be limited to specific days and times.

Is Zoom the only virtual option?

My booking website automatically creates a Zoom link for all virtual meetings. If you would prefer an alternate site please contact me and we will work to accommodate your request if possible.

I really need help but can't afford it.

I offer a free discovery call so you know that the services I provide are right for you. After the initial session we can meet as often as you would like to fit your family's needs. We do offer discounted packages to help offset the costs and make your plan as flexible as possible. Please reach out for more details.
